Joe
Started Martial Arts at the age of seven, at a small club
in Yeovil. He took many classes in Freestyle Kickboxing. Through
his time at this club he entered small national tournaments,
often bringing back a first place. Near the end of his time
at this local club he reached his green belt in Freestyle
Kickboxing and started training himself in Creative Weapons,
specially Nunchakus. Then he decided to take martial arts
more seriously and move to a competition based club, so he
joined The London Predators coached by Curtis Page of the
GBMAA. In this club he reached his black belt 1 st Dan. With
the London Predators he travelled around the country competing
on the main circuits bringing home trophies with his sister
Ruth Hallett. Eventually he saw musical Forms, which he liked
and started to compete in, starting from the bottom. Knowing
nothing about this art, to being one of the top forms competitors
in the country. Also during his time at the GBMAA he attended
the Us Open, WKA world championships and WPKA world championships.
In the WPKA he brought home his first world title, which proved
not to be his last.
In
2004 Joe started training with Triple Wako world champion
Ashley Beck and Ex Olympic Gymnast Brian Beck of the BMAA.
Here he started to learn martial art tricks and developing
his Musical open hand forms and weapons. Ever since he has
progressed in tricks and forms becoming Wako British and World
Champion and in 2005 took home the Wako World Cup Trophy from
Italien Best Fighter competition.
In
2007 Joe went independant and began teaching jointly with
his sister, Ruth, at their own full time martial arts school
in Yeovil. Joe and Ruth teach Freestyle Kickboxing, Tricks,
Kicks and Flips and Weapons. They currently have over 150
students. Alongside this, Joe is now a monthly columnist for
Combat Magazine one of the leading martial arts magazine in
the UK. And Joe has formed his own demonstration and forms
team, Team Resurrection. As a team they have performed on
Cage Rage 25 at Wembley Arena infront of a sold out crowd
going live on Sky Sports 3, at Seni 08 in Excel London, EFMA
08 Disneyland Paris, Bodypower Expo NEC Birmingham and Ultimate
Challenge UK the list goes on. Joe and his team training together
can only go onwards and upwards towards their goal of becoming
the Premiere Demonstration/Forms Team in the country.
Since
becoming independant Joe has started his film career working
on UK movies including Furor and Warrioress and music videos
by D-Tox and Blackwater Productions.
So
you better watch out for this young man he is going places!
